Geeksphone-Silent Circle suit reveals Blackphone sales flop

A lawsuit brought by the former owners of Spanish smartphone maker Geeksphone against encryption specialist Silent Circle has revealed the flopped sales of the security-focused Blackphone handset developed by the two companies. Court documents seen by Forbes indicate that Geeksphone is asking Silent Circle for USD 5 million from the USD 30 million agreed sale of shares in the pair's Blackphone joint venture. The documents reveal that Silent Circle had expected orders for 250,000 Blackphones from three major distributor agreements – with Dubai-based BigOn Telecommunications, South Korea's
