German cartel office expects to take 'first steps' against Facebook this year

Tuesday 28 August 2018 | 11:21 CET | News
Germany's antitrust regulator, the Federal Cartel Office, expects to take action later this year in its probe against Facebook after finding that the social media firm abused its dominant market power to illegally gather data on users without their consent or knowledge, reported Reuters. Federal Cartel Office President Andreas Mundt told a news conference he was aware that its probe "should, and must, go quickly", adding that he aims to take the "first steps" this year in the investigation.
