German cartel regulator accuses comparison websites of misleading consumers

The investigation found that the fees paid by suppliers influence the list of results on the portals, misleading consumers. Furthermore, comparison websites cover only a small fraction of the market in certain industries, at times less than 50 percent, the authority found. They rely often on data of other portals instead of making their own comparison, and consumers are often not sufficiently informed about the websites' practices.
