German Chancellor talks with Nokia, Ericsson to support EU operators on 5G - report

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is in early stage talks with the heads of Ericsson and Nokia to reinforce the market position of European providers of 5G equipment, Handelsblatt reports. Merkel's plan is to support European technological independence. The Chancellor meets on 13 February with Nokia and Ericsson at the Chancellery to discuss the development of the 5G network, with the support of the CDU and CSU parties.
