German consumer minister calls for improvements to EU roaming laws

Germany's Minister for Consumer Protection Katarina Barley has called for improvements to EU roaming regulations in light of "cost traps" consumers still face with mobile communications, wrote Heise Online. Barley said she other EU ministers are "working together" on improving gaps in roaming laws, such as the fact that calls made to other EU countries were not covering by roaming legislation as calls to a consumer's home country from abroad were. Proposed changes here include capping the costs of phone calls to other EU countries to EUR 0.19 per minute, as well as rules requiring service
