Germany's Federal Association of Consumer Protection (VZBV) said it largely approves of the position the German government has taken on the proposed reform of the EU's ePrivacy ordinance. The VZBV said it welcomes the government's stance to only allow telecoms services to process communications metadata like location data with users' consent or for statistical purposes. Limits on companies' use of Cookies or similar technologies for "narrowly defined purposes" or with user consent are also a sign of "progress" for internet users, they added.
