German fibre coverage increases, but demand is low

Friday 4 December 2015 | 11:19 CET | News
The amount of FTTB and FTTH connections increased by 25 percent to 2.1 million households in Germany in 2015 despite general market uncertainty, according to a Buglas report cited by Teltarif. Half of the 400,000 new connections were installed by Buglas member companies. According to the association, another 800,000 connections will be added over the next three years. A study presented by VATM showed that many more fibre connections could be activated but the demand is low; consumers have booked only 510,000 connections, which is equivalent to 24.3 percent of those available.
