German govt commits EUR 904 mln to broadband roll-out

The German federal government has announced its second round of funding to expand the national broadband network. The Ministry for Traffic and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) has allocated EUR 904 million towards building broadband networks in underserved regions. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Saxony in the country's east have been granted EUR 463 million and 208 million respectively. Lower Saxony was another major beneficiary with a grant of EUR 106 million.
