German govt rejects ban on analogue radio sales

Radios with an analogue-only receiver can continue to be sold in Germany after the federal government rejected a proposed ban on their sale after 2019. The Federal Council proposed a draft amendment to section 48 of the Telecommunications Act which would have required all digital receivers to be "suitable for the reception of standards-appropriate digital signals". The proposal was made on the basis of the EU's Universal Service Directive.
