German govt to protect strategic segments better

Friday 14 July 2017 | 11:24 CET | News
German government has adopted a draft amendment to the regulation of foreign trade, prepared by the Minister of Economy. It changes rules for acquisitions of German businesses by foreign investors outside the EU/EFTA. The legislation is a reaction to the recent increase in the number and complexity of such foreign acquisitions and the need to protect strategic German industries. Foreign acquisitions of 25 percent or more will be assessed for potential risks to public order and security.
