German IT sector has only 16% female workforce - study

Only 16 percent of the IT industry workforce in Germany are women, according to a study by German internet industry association Eco, published in cooperation with the Institute for Innovation and Technology in Berlin, to mark International Women's Day (08 March). The share of women who are founders of start-ups in Germany is still very low at only 15.7 percent, according to the study.  Around 10 percent to 20 percent of applicants for positions as developers and IT experts are women.
