German-Japan research project develops 100 Gbps mobile backhaul in THz band

A consortium of European and Japanese researchers is working on a project to develop THz radio links for mobile network backhaul. The Thor research consortium is hoping to develop an alternative to fibre backhaul, which may not be possible for all of the much higher number of cell sites needed on 5G network.
