German operators call on EC to block vectoring plans

An association of 25 Germany industry groups has written to the European Commission asking it to block the German regulator's proposed approval of Deutsche Telekom's vectoring plans. The Bundesnetzagentur recently approved its decision on wholesale broadband access, following a pledge from DT to invest in upgrading its copper network to faster speeds with vectoring. However, alternative operators fear this will re-establish DT's monopoly, as they will be unable to have the same unbundled access to the fixed network.
