German parliament sets fines for net neutrality violations

The German parliament has passed legislation setting a fine of EUR 500,000 for net neutrality violations. The Bundestag approved amendments to the Telecommunications Act implementing the EU's regulation on net neutrality, reports Heise.de. This includes penalties to be issued by the Federal Networks Agency of EUR 100,000 if ISPs do not inform customers properly of available internet speeds and any internet restrictions and EUR 500,000 if they violate net neutrality. The law also includes a requirement for annual reports from the regulator on whether ISPs are delivering the speeds promised and
