German public TV stations lose Olympics coverage

German public broadcasters ARD and ZDF will have no rights to cover upcoming Olympic Games until 2024 after discussions with Eurosport failed. Eurosport, which is part of US media group Discovery, was awarded the rights to broadcast the next four Olympic Games, both summer and winter, from 2018 until 2024. The pay-TV station confirmed to the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung that it had ceased sub-licensing talks with German public stations ARD and ZDF after several months of negotiations.
