German regulator clears use of 700 MHz band for mobile communications

The German Federal Network Agency has authorised the use the frequencies in the 700 MHz band for mobile communications, starting at the beginning of July. This makes more frequencies available nationwide and enables operators to improve mobile network coverage, especially in rural areas, said Jochen Homann, president of the agency.
