German regulator criticises use of geoblocking in the EU

The German Federal Network Agency has criticised the practice of geoblocking. The regulator said that it supports the cross-border purchase of products by customers within the EU. According to the "shop-like-a-local" principle, customers in the EU have the right to buy goods and services on the same terms as a national customer, without discrimination. Geoblocking however makes its that customers from access providers or purchase items under different conditions, depending on their geographical location.
