German regulator says smart TVs violate General Data Protection Regulation

The German Federal Cartel Office said in its sector investigation that smart TVs violate the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The data protection policies of smart TV manufacturers active in Germany seriously lack transparency, it said.  The requirements are incomprehensible to consumers because they apply to a variety of services and uses.
