German rules on ISP speed reporting come into effect

Thursday 1 June 2017 | 15:22 CET | News
New transparency rules have come into effect in the German telecom market from 01 June, as part of the EU's net neutrality rules implemented in German law last November. Providers must give customers information on the minimum, maximum and normally available speeds they can expect from their broadband connections, as well as details on their data usage and any traffic management techniques used. Additional details on the current contract period, extension options and cancellation period and costs are also required.
