German secret services limit cooperation with US - report

Friday 11 July 2014 | 11:15 CET | News
German secret services have been told to limit their cooperation with their US counterparts to a minimum, WirtschaftsWoche reported, citing tabloid newspaper 'Bild'. The order came from Chancellor Angela Merkel's office, Bild said, citing security service sources. News agency dpa has been unable to confirm the Bild report and professional contacts between the two sides are continuing. This follows the German government's decision on 10 July to ask a US embassy member of staff to leave the country over allegations of US spying against Germany.
