German security expert warns of 5G encryption risks

The 5G encryption communication standards can be exploited by terrorists to threaten Germany's domestic security, according to the head of Hamburg's Office for the Protection of the Constitution (LfV), Torsten Voss. Currently only a handful of messenger apps use end-to-end encryption and can avoid tapping, while this would be generally the case for communications on 5G networks, he noted in an interview with DPA. Voss is in favour of providing security services the ability to tap into communications networks to track terror suspects, with the approval of the G10 Commission of the German
