German Security Office starts probe into Chinese mobile phone manufacturers

The German Federal Office of Information and Security (BSI) is launching an investigation into Chinese smartphone manufacturers, a spokesperson for the BSI told the Deutsche Presse Agentur. The BSI decided to start the probe following a warning from the Lithuanian cyber defence unit of security gaps in Chinese mobile phones. In the report received by the Lithuanian cyber defence unit, three specific smartphone models were analysed, the Huawei P40 5G, Xiaomi Mi 10T 5G and the OnePlus 8T 5G.
