German teenagers protect privacy on social networks - survey

The majority of German teenagers use social media such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram responsibly and competently in terms of data protection, according to a recent survey conducted by IT association Bitkom. While 60 percent of active users between 10 and 18 years changed their privacy settings, the competency for data protection increases with age; in the age group 10 to 12, the percentage is 28, between 13 and 15 it is 60 and between 16 and 18 it is 79. The most common change (84%) is who can see the profile, followed by the visibility of posts with 78 percent. Sixty percent of users
