Germany launches 'business areas' fibre project

The German government has committed EUR 350 million to building out fibre-optic networks in business parks, industrial areas and ports. A subsidy of up to 50 percent of the eligible costs is available, with a cap of EUR 1 million per eligible project. Under the programme, network connections will be brought up to a minimum of 1 Gbps for symmetrical uploads and download. Publicly accessible areas will be equipped with free Wi-Fi connections.
