Germany sees strong investment in data centres in 2017, role in international market shrinks - study

Thursday 4 January 2018 | 09:15 CET | News
The market for data centres in Germany continues to grow at a double-digit pace as investments increased by 10 percent and likely exceeded EUR 1 billion for the first time in 2017, according to a new study from the Borderstep Institute for Innovation and Sustainability on behalf of the digital industry association Bitkom. This growth has resulted in the creation of 15,000 more jobs in this sector since 2014, bringing the total number of full-time jobs at German data centres to 130,000, found Borderstep. Another 85,000 jobs in Germany are directly dependent on data centres.
