Germany should change broadband strategy - study

Germany should change its approach to government oversight for reaching its broadband goals and subsidies as well as become more courageous in setting broadband speed targets, according to a study by research institute Fraunhofer ISI for the Bertelsmann Stiftung. The study was commissioned to find out why Germany is behind most OECD countries in FTTH roll-out, with coverage of only 6.6 percent of all households compared to 73 percent in Estonia, 56 percent in Sweden and 27 percent in Switzerland.
