Friday 9 February 2018 | 13:38 CET | News

Danish operator TDC's Norwegian subsidiary Get said it is buying a 51 percent stake in Norwegian start-up company Futurehome. This is part of its plan to offer IoT and smart services to its 1 million individual customers as well as businesses and local councils. Gunnar Evensen, CEO of Get and of TDC Norge, said it has been evaluating a number of platforms and businesses in Norway and abroad over the past two years and has settled on the domestic start-up.

Get already offers fire and burgler alarms, and purchasing Futurehome will enable it to expand its range of services. Futurehome co-founder and CEO Erik Stokkeland described Get and TDC as among the most innovative companies in the sector currently.

Futurehome was established in 2013 and employs eighteen people. Its platform can be expanded according to requirements. It uses open industry standards and can be integrated with services from a number of third party providers.

The remaining 49 percent of shares in Futurehome will remain with its original founders and its workers. It will continue to operate as an independent subsidiary.
