The global consumer electronics industry is expected to bring in revenues of USD 1.014 trillion in 2018, an increase of 4 percent from the previous year, according to new research from consumer electronics industry group GFU. The three largest markets for consumer electronics, China (23 percent), Europe (22 percent) and North America (23 percent), are expected to account for nearly 70 percent of this revenue. GFU expects the Chinese market to grow by 1 percent and the European and North American market to grow by 6 and 2 percent, respectively, from last year.

Global smartphones sales are expected to account for nearly half of this revenue (48 percent), while sales of televisions and mobile PCs each amount to 12 percent. The report estimates that nearly 1.5 billion smartphones will be sold this year, an increase of 3 percent from 2017, while television sales will increase 5.8 percent to 236 million units sold and sales of PC computers will decrease 3.7 percent from 2017 to 283 million units.
