Global smartphone market flat in Q2 at 343 mln units - IDC

The global smartphone market rose just 0.3 percent year-on-year in the second quarter to 343.3 million units, according to estimates from IDC. The market did show greater sequential growth, as shipments were up 3.1 percent from the first quarter of 2016. IDC's figures show Samsung strengthening its share to 22.4 percent in Q2, while Apple's share fell to 11.8 percent of smartphones shipped worldwide. Huawei moved up to 9.4 percent from 8.6 percent a year ago, and Oppo jumped to 6.6 percent of global smartphones from 2.8 percent in Q2 2015. IDC puts Vivo in fifth place with a share of 4.8
