Global smartphone sales grow 35% in Q3

Global smartphone shipments grew 35 percent annually to reach 162 million units in the third quarter, according to research by Strategy Analytics. The "volatile" global economy and growing smartphone penetration led to more moderate market growth, the market researcher said. It estimates Samsung set a new record for quarterly shipments in the market, selling 56.9 million smartphones, good for a 35 percent market share.
