Global smartphone shipments down 6% in Q4, post first full-year decline

Thursday 31 January 2019 | 09:30 CET | News
Global smartphone shipments fell 6 percent year on year to 376 million units in the fourth quarter and declined on a full-year basis for the first time ever in 2018, according to the latest data from Strategy Analytics. Total shipments reached 1.43 billion in 2018 compared to 1.51 billion in 2017 after 5 straight quarters of year on year declines, attributed mainly to longer replacement cycles, economic headwinds, a slowdown in China and a "lack of wow models".
