Global tablet shipments fall 20% in Q4 - IDC

Global tablet shipments fell for the ninth consecutive quarter in Q4 2016, by 20.1 percent to 52.9 million units, according to IDC. Shipments for the full year were down 15.6 percent to 174.8 million units, marking the second straight year of declining shipments. The market for classic 'slate' tablets, without a dedicated keyboard, continues to contract, with only a few small growth areas, such as some emerging markets in the Middle East & Africa and Central & Eastern Europe regions, IDC said. As traditional PC makers focus on the detachable market, Apple and Samsung are dominating
