Global tablet shipments fall 9 percent in Q4

Global tablet shipments fell 9 percent in the fourth quarter to 63.5 million, as market leaders Apple and Samsung experienced double-digit declines, Strategy Analytics reports. Apple's market share fell to 20.6 percent from 23.2 a year ago, while Samsung was largely stable at 12.8 percent of shipments. The market researcher said smaller vendors were doing better at capitalizing on growth segments, while consumers are resistant to the high prices attached to high-end tablets and 2-in-1 computers. Amazon in particular is doing well with its low-cost Fire tablet, growing shipments an estimated
