Global traditional PC shipments to slide 3% this year, pulled down by consumer segment

Global sales for personal computing devices (PCDs), namely traditional PCs and tablets, is expected to fall this year by 3 percent to 392.5 million units, according to the latest study from IDC. This decline will continue through 2023 with shipments sliding further to 367.7 million unit and the compound annual growth rate (CAGR) going to a negative 1.6 percent. By contrast, average selling prices (ASPs) for the entire market should rise by 2.6 percent this year, driven by new technologies such as thinner bezels on notebook screens that have increased demand for 2-in-1 form factors, and
