Gogo to speed up in-flight service to 100 Mbps

Thursday 29 September 2016 | 09:22 CET | News
In-flight internet provider Gogo Inc said it is building a faster version of its air-to-ground system for business and commercial aircraft that should be available in 18 months. The service will provide speeds of 100 Mbps to aircraft, about 10 times more than Gogo's existing system, Chief Operating Officer John Wade said in an interview with Reuters. Based on Gogo's cellular technology, the system uses unlicensed radio spectrum, beam-forming directional antennas and other improvements to increase speed, Chief Technology Officer Anand Chari said in the same interview.
