Google adds hardware partners for Google TV

Google said activations of Google TV devices have more than doubled since the software was updated last October. One of the updates was the addition of the Android Market, and Google said it now has more 150 apps built specifically for Google TV. The company also announced new hardware partners for Google TV, which will be exhibited at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas next week. In addition to existing partner Sony, Google confirmed that LG and Samsung will also make TVs with the Google software. LG will showcase a new line of TVs powered by Google TV running on its L9 chipset, and Samsung is expected to launch Google TV devices in 2012. Sony will unveil new devices for the US at CES and plans to offer Google TV products in several countries around the world in 2012. Google has also added Marvell and MediaTek as chip suppliers for Google TV.
