Google awards USD 20 mln to disability projects

Google.org, the philanthropic arm of Google, has announced the award of USD 20 million in grants to 30 non-profit organisations building transformative technologies for the billion people around the world with disabilities. The company said over 1,000 organisations spanning 88 countries submitted project ideas to its "Google Impact Challenge Disabilities" open call and the winners have now been chosen. The non-profits will receive an average grant of around USD 750,000 to advance their projects in the five main categories of education, communication, mobility, independence and employment.
