Google completes Motorola Mobility takeover
Google has officially completed the acquisition of Motorola Mobility Holdings, paying USD 40 per share in cash. The deal will allow Google to supercharge the Android ecosystem, with Motorola Mobility remaining a licensee of Android. Android will remain open and Google will operate Motorola Mobility as a separate business. Sanjay Jha has stepped down to be replaced as CEO of Motorola Mobility by Dennis Woodside.

Google revenues rise, margins fall after Motorola takeover

Google reported second-quarter revenues of USD 12.21 billion, up 35 percent from a year earlier. Growth was helped by the takeover of Motorola Mobility from 22 May. On a standalone basis, Google posted sales of USD 10.96 billion, up 21 percent year-on-year. Motorola contributed revenues of USD 1.25 billion, including USD 843 million from the mobile segment and USD 407 million from the home segment. Motorola names new head of Home division, strategy chief

Motorola Mobility announced the appointment of Marwan Fawaz to head its Home division. Fawaz was a founder and partner at Sarepta Advisors, a technology consulting firm. Prior to Sarepta, he held several C-level positions with major cable operators, including chief technology officer at Charter and senior vice president and CTO of Adelphia Communications. Fawan replaces Dan Moloney as head of the set-top box division. The change in management follows the completion of Google's takeover of the company in May
