Google defends UK tax, calls for international reform

Google has defended its UK tax payments and called for international tax laws to be rewritten. Writing in The Telegraph newspaper, Matt Brittin, President, EMEA Business & Operations, said that Google's corporation tax bill for the last year was over USD 3.3 billion, most of it payable in the US. He insisted that Google was a US company and employs around 20,000 software engineers in the US, compared to around 1,000 in the UK. He said that the US was where most of Google's products were designed and created, where most of its R&D takes place, and where it bears the most investment risk,
