Google introduces Chrome for Android phones

Google is bringing its Chrome web browser to mobile phones. The software will initially launch in beta for smartphones running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Google said Chrome for Android is focused on speed and simplicity, loading search results in the background as the user types, so pages appear 'instantly'. The same as in the Chrome desktop browser, the URL box in the mobile version serves as a search box for Google. Other features include an unlimited number of tabs, which can be swiped through like a deck of cards, zooming in on links for easy selection and privacy settings. The mobile version also syncs with the desktop experience for users who sign in to Chrome. Users can then access tabs left open on the computer, sync book marks and get autocomplete suggestions based on browsing history. Google launched the Chrome desktop browser in 2008. Figures from StatCounter suggest the browser passed Mozilla's Firefox at the end of 2011 to become the world's second most popular browser, with an around 25 percent market share.
