Google introduces Free Zone for emerging markets

Google has introduced "Free Zone", a new service for internet users in developing countries. The service is launching first in the Philippines and is offering Google Search, Gmail, and Google+ from mobile devices without data charges, Cnet reports. However, if users want to surf beyond Google's services, they will be told they need to pay data charges. The service is designed to reach the "next billion users on the internet", Reuters quotes Google product manager AbdelKarim Mardini as saying. If it is successful, Free Zone could be rolled out to other emerging markets.
