Google to boost funding for venture capital arm
Google will boost the cash allocated to its venture-capital arm from USD 200 million to USD 300 million a year, according to Reuters. The additional funds will allow Google Ventures to invest in more later-stage financing rounds, and will place the company on the same level as more established corporate venture funds like Intel Capital. Google Ventures typically funds 40-50 seed-stage deals a year, where it invests USD 250,000 or less in a company and around fifteen deals where it invests up to USD 10 million, said Bill Maris, managing partner of Google Ventures. It aims to complete one or two deals annually in the USD 20 million-USD 50 million range, Maris said.
