Google launches new social networking service

Google is launching a new social networking service, called Google+. The company said it aims to bring some of the "subtlety and substance of real-world interactions" to the online world, reducing the awkwardness and rigidity of current tools for online sharing. Google+ is based on Circles, allowing users to create different groups with which they share only selective information. The Sparks feature creates feeds of online content based on the user's interests, and Hangouts lets users create video chats with up to ten contacts online. Google also released a mobile version of the service on the Android Market. This adds features such as Huddle, for group messaging, and Instant Upload for storing images from a camera to the cloud. The mobile app also allows users to add their location to all their posts. Google+ starts as a field trial and is open by invitation only.
