Google looking to reintegrate Nest with hardware team - report

Friday 1 December 2017 | 08:57 CET | News
Alphabet is evaluating the possibility of reintegrating its Nest Labs home automation unit into Google, according to unnamed sources cited by The Wall Street Journal. Nest currently operates under Alphabet's "Other Bets" product category instead of directly under Google and is best known for its range of internet-connected thermostats, smoke detectors and security cameras. Making Nest and its 1,000 employees part of Google would allow the company to more tightly integrate its services and take on Amazon in the home-device market, said the sources.
