Google opposes 'unworkable' mandatory media bargaining code in Australia

Google has announced it does not oppose "a code that oversees the relationships between news publishers and digital platforms" in Australia. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has recently proposed a media bargaining code, which is designed to govern the relationship between news media and digital platforms – including how news content should be paid for. Google participated in the ACCC inquiry and consultation process since it was launched in 2017.
