Google privacy ruling creates legal uncertainty - EDiMA

The European Digital Media Association (EDiMA) has issued a statement calling on the European Union to "reassess" the EU Court of Justice's recent judgment upholding the right of individuals to request that Google remove personal information about them from its search results. On 13 May the Court of Justice ruled that the EU's 1995 data protection directive means that individuals should have an opportunity to insist that Google take down certain search results that come up in a search for their names because they violate a "respect for private life" or a "right to protection of personal
