Google replaces some news stories in search results

Google has replaced links to some news articles in its search engine, after complaints by the Guardian newspaper, that newsworthy stories had been blocked under the company's first attempt to comply with a May decision by the European Court of Justice. The court ruling found Google should remove links to new items with possibly damaging personal information if it is no longer accurate or relevant or in the public interest. It applies to people's names in search results. Google's head of communications in Europe, Peter Barron, said on a BBC news programme that company is learning as it goes
