Google revenues up 11%, CFO signals spending check

Google reported second-quarter revenues up 11 percent year-on-year to USD 17.727 billion. While revenues rose at half the rate of the year-earlier period, operating profit increased 13 percent to USD 4.825 billion. Net profit increased to USD 4.829 billion or USD 4.93 per share, from USD 4.104 billion or USD 4.88 per share a year earlier. Google total advertising revenues rose 11 percent to USD 16.023 billion, led by 13 percent growth on its own sites. Traffic acquisition costs fell to 21 percent of ad revenues from 23 percent a year ago. The cost per click was also down 11 percent over the
