Google rivals says EU shopping remedies not working

Google's online shopping rivals have complained to the European Union that the remedies imposed on the company to boost competition are having the opposite effect, reports the Wall Street Journal. The company was fined EUR 2.4 billion in June by the EC and told to change its practices and give rival comparison sites equal treatment in its search results. Google subsequently took steps to comply with the ruling within the EU by creating a new system that it says treats all comparison-shopping sites equally by letting them bid for desirable product-ad slots at the top of its search results,
