Google rules out AI weapon development in newly-published guidelines

Google has published a set of seven principles to guide its work and research in the field of Artificial intelligence (AI). In the wake of recent controversy over Google's work on the US military's Project Maven, the company said it won't develop AI for use in weaponry or mass surveillance systems. It also pledged not to work on AI projects contravening "widely accepted principles of international law and human rights".
